Last night was so much fun, October definitely went out with a bang! Now that I got summer out of my system (no chance of my own, thanks Michigan) I’ve embraced Fall full swing. I went to a haunted house for the first time and also scored free tickets the freak show side attraction Hellzapoppin’ as well.
I didn’t have the chance to do my costume proper this year, so I dressed as the best character imaginable, myself. I dressed in one of my favorite printed dresses I snagged at Macy’s a couple of years back. I have a thing for tribal print patterns and when I saw this dress I knew I had to have it. I played on the tribal theme dress by accessorizing the look with southwest themed teardrop earrings and wood bead bracelet made by yours truly.
My look wouldn’t be complete without some of my signature faves, my costume was myself after all I had to make it authentic. My signature Holly wear included a very fall-sques marigold beanie (hat lover for life), black high top Converse (my favorite non-boot footwear), denim vest (because denim is always classic) and a vintage Coach handbag (Just my favorite piece of fashion hands down).

As of haunted houses, me being a first timer and all, I couldn’t have pick a better haunted house than Erebus Haunted Attraction in Pontiac. According to House’s website, Erebus is nationally recognized as being one of the top haunts in the USA and the four-story haunted house earned the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s longest walk-through haunted attraction in August 2005, a title which they held until September 2009. Erebus transferred a long time abandoned parking garage to a haunted house filled with chills, thrills and a handful of handsy yetis (every one of them had their hands on me). I pride myself on not being easy to scare and there were a times they got me pretty good. Without spoiling anything, I’m just going to say they play on shared common phobias. All and all it was a great experience and fun times.
The night was a night of many firsts, scoring tickets to the Erebuses’ sideshow Hellzapoppin’ delivered my first time a freak show also. There was a half man, sword swallowers, contortionists, fire breathers, and performing pug. The multi-talented group of performs put on an hour long show that tested perceived physical boundaries and served up some amazing visual wows.
It was a fun night filled with new experiences, fun, laughs, ooos, ahhhs, and the occasional scream. All and all it was a great Hollyween.
